If you're prepared to drop $60 on brunch, don't read this post. Go to the
Ritz-Carlton. The brunch at Drury Lane isn't in that league. I admit I wasn't expecting much.
But for $22.95, it's a damn impressive buffet. It's nothing too gourmet, but it's solid, with tons of food and they keep it coming. Everything was fresh tasting, and they were always refilling the platters.
Theirs were certainly among the best buffet eggs benedict I've had. Really good oysters Rockefeller, too (not Antoine's, but an excellent rendition nonetheless). Piles of iced Gulf shrimp and crab legs; made-to-order omelets and Belgian waffles; carved roasted beef, ham and whole roast turkey. All kinds of savory entrees, salads, fresh fruit. Some interesting cheeses, like sage derby. (Overheard: "Does that cheese have varicose veins?" The crowd isn't the Ritz's either.)
Nobody's posted on this. I never even knew it existed. It's not for the light eaters, but those of you who love a groaning-board buffet and aren't afraid of the suburbs may want to check it out.
