Ricci Nuts

for those of you who want the freshest tasting nuts- you should check out RICCI NUTS. they are primarily a wholesaler, but welcome retail sales also in their longtime home on west superior. they roast their nuts every day in peanut oil right there in the basement - you can't get much fresher than that. i'm addicted to their honey roasted peanuts to which i add hot, smoked paprika, an amazing combination. their nuts taste so much better than the packaged ones at costco, for example, though they will be a little more expensive.

i can't seem to find them in the phone book, but they are located between wells and laSalle, which means approximately 160 west on superior. people double park for a few minutes to run in and buy nuts. phone number is 312-787-7660. . i believe their hours are 7-4:30pm on weekdays, saturday 7-11, closed on sundays.

i don't think anyone else has posted the very sad news that Ricci Nuts, a 92 year old family run chicago institution closed recently. they roasted their nuts every day down in the basement- you can't get much fresher than that. i'm really going to miss them. it was easy to miss them- a small entrance on superior, between wells and lasalle streets. justjoan

That is so sad. I wonder why somebody did not buy their business? I know its hard to get loans but some dedicated person could make a living hopefully at something like this and create or retain a few jobs.

Several weeks ago there was an equipment auction notice by the bank that had seized their assets.
