I have spent much time today reading all of the available threads here regarding Las Vegas restaurants. I have wanted to go to the Salt Lick for a long time, so I was thrilled to read about the one at Red Rock, and I imagine either Peppermill Inn or Hash House a Go Go will be another stop.

We have one more lunch and dinner free and I'd like to go to one buffet while I'm there. At first I had planned on the Bellagio, but have read nothing but mediocre reviews, so I'm not sure I want to spend $33/person on a ho hum experience. I want something different - upscale even - and I'm willing to spend the money if it's worth it.

I am, of course, doing lots of research online, but you all haven't steered me wrong yet! :)

PS - not oriental or sushi

Has anyone been to the Main Street Station Garden Court buffet?

This is probably not the response you had in mind, but quite a bit off the beaten track is one of the top Thai restaurants in the country. Lotus of Siam http://www.saipinchutima.com/ has a lunch buffet but the real reason to go is for the Northern Thai menu. The buffet is better than it has to be for the price, but the a la carte stuff from the menu is stunning. My absolute favorite restaurant in Las Vegas, and yes, I've eaten at most of the big name places.

Oh yes, I saw the many many threads praising LoS. :) We have very few meals free the three days we will be there due to having to go to a couple of banquets at the trade show we're attending.

    Some ideas:

    1) I have always had very good meals at the Bellagio buffet. It IS expensive but you get a wide variety of foods.

    2) I would also recommend the Alladin IF they have moved into their NEW quarters. For the past several months, they have been operating under temporary quarters and the quality has suffered.

I have heard positives about the Wynn and the Mandalay Buffets although I have not had the opportunity to try them.

At the other end of the spectrum cost-wise, the Orleans and the Gold Coast are pretty good for the price (about $15).

uhhhh... oriental like in rugs? or antiques?

anything downtown LV is going to be cheap and not "upscale". if you can catch a Sunday brunch/lunch, then do the "Le Village Buffet" in Paris. casual chic, champagne, crepes, lovely.

my husband and i were pleasantly surprised when we went to Cravings a couple years ago - i believe it's in the Mirage. there is a huge variety of food, and it even had good gelato! we had also tried the Wynn, but weren't very impressed.

Yeah, I've always liked the Aladdin Spice Market buffet the best due to all the Middle Eastern options.

The Wynn was fine the past two times I went there, although I really didn't care for their desserts. Mandalay Bay is also decent.

The Orleans is the only place I've seen that has whole boiled crawfish in their buffet.

Also, the Paradise Buffet in the Fremont on Tuesday, Friday, and Sun has crab legs during dinner for $15.99.
When I grow up, I'm going to Bovine University!
