My husband and I (and our 2 year old ) have never actually eaten IN a Chinese restaurant. We would like to go out tonight and I need recommendations. Here's what we are looking for:
A CLEAN sit down Chinese restaurant
    Family Friendly
Someplace that has classic dishes (we are not seafood fans).

We live in Niles but are willing to travel to Chinatown or if there is a place in the north/northwest burbs.

If any of the places have strange parking please tell me where to park. Thanks for your help!!!

Kow Kow in Lincolnwood would be great. It's family oriented and has great food. It's a good sitdown place that will surely meet these qualifications.

Kow Kow is good. Equally good (or maybe even better because it's closer to you) is China Chef in Morton Grove. Both are of the Jewish Suburban Chinese school of Chinese cookery which, judging by your posts in the past, is probably exactly what you are looking for. Parking is in their somewhat small lot or on the street and is never a problem.

I'll be curious to hear what you think about China Chef. I'm pretty sure you will like it. The egg rolls are very good, as is the General Tso's Chicken, Mongolian Beef and Almond Pressed Duck. I don't know if any of those sound good to you, but I'd recommend them. They also have a Filipeno section on the menu with a few interesting looking dishes, but I would steer you away from them and more toward the Jewish/Chinese/American stuff. Also, for $3.95 extra (I think) you can make any dish a "complete dinner", which includes a cup of soup (won ton or hot & sour), an egg roll and a patty of splendid egg foo yung. That's enough food for dinner tonight and a Sunday afternoon snack.

Do not rule out the Palace on Waukegan Road in Morton Grove. Good solid food (IMHO) and vey family friendly (both my kids grew up in there). Dining room is a bit dated, but clean. They've expanded their menu into a few interesting dishes beyond "classic" suburban Chinese.

For good, standard Chinese fare, we like the Dragon Inn North at 1650 Waukegan Road in Glenview (just a bit north of the Trader Joe's shopping plaza). The hostess and staff are very friendly there; they're very nice to our kids; the decor is classic (it always reminds me of the Chinese restaurant episode in "Seinfeld," because of its large waiting area); the menu is extensive; and while the food is not innovative and probably not "authentic" (though my husband thinks it's an authentic recreation of the restaurants he used to frequent as a kid in Queens) the ingredients are very fresh. Most of the patrons (when we go, anyway, at the early dinner hour) are either family groups with children or senior citizens. My kids especially like the sizzling rice soup, and they have a barbequed pork and cabbage dish which I like a lot. The service is always pleasant, and they do nice things, like give you (without asking and without charging) a big box of extra rice to take home with your leftovers. I contrast this with the Pine Yard in Evanston, where they always charge me 75 cents for extra plum sauce, even with $75 worth of take-out food.
