As published in the Trib, Chicagoans nabbed twelve Beard Foundation Nominations for their 2007 Awards.

For this board the most notable was that of our friend and compatriot Graham Elliot Bowles who is a nominee for "Rising Chef of the Year," although some here surely imagined that he has been long risen to prominence. Chef GEB you have home-town support.

    Other nominees:

    Rich Melman, Oustanding Restauranteur

Jean Joho (Everest) and Paul Kahan (Blackbird), Outstanding Chef

Frontera Grill and Spiaggia, Outstanding Restaurant

Mindy Segal (Hot Chocolate), outstanding Pastry Chef

Grant Achatz (Alinea), Carrie Nahabedian (Naha), and Bruce Sherman (North Pond), Best Chef (Great Lakes)

    Tru, Outstanding Service

Bin 36 and Brian Duncan, Outstanding Wine Service

LTHforum, Outstanding Website (Just kidding about this award, but well-deserved)

    Success to all!

    HI,

I have read the James Beard website, it appears people can nominate themselves. What I couldn't not see is where LTHforum fit into the various categories. I think someday there just may be a suitable category, because you know anything can happen.

Meanwhile in the web cast catagory, Evanston's www.spatulatta.com is nominated once again. They won this category in 2006. Gaylon Emerzian who produced and filmed, Living on the Wedge, artisinal cheese documentary, produces Spatulatta.com.

    Small world!

    Regards,
    Cathy2

This website has the most unfortunate 4/for substitution I've ever seen.

That seems about right. One year to rise in Chicago, two years for word to finally penetrate to the coasts...

    Hi,

A bee just alerted me to yet another James Beard Foundation nomination: Gaylon Emerzian's "Living on the Wedge" about artisanal cheese in Wisconsin, which many hear have seen on WTTW or in private screenings.

Gaylon has the distinction of having two projects nominated with the other Spatullatta.com mentioned earlier.
