I will preface that I have been to West Town Tavern at least 20 times. I am a huge fan, and still frequent the restaurant. I went to one wine dinner and didn't go back to the restaurant for 3 months because I was so dissapointed with the service and food.
We specifically chose the wine night as it was New Zealand wines, and I am a huge fan of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. My husband is a bigger fan of lamb. Naturally, we thought they would be serving food and wine from NZ.
That dinner we were served if I remember correctly was a crab cake, a small salad and over done pork loin (really it was so small it was barely a medallion). And when I say over done, I mean one side was charred black and it actually tasted more like liquid smoke. Utterly awful. This was the first time we had taken friends of ours after we had raved about WTT. We were absolutely mortified. The wine they served was from a small vintner, she was not prepared to talk about the wine, even less interested in selling wine, and we got ONE very small splash of wine, for each course. So, three small glasses. No topping up and certainly not two glasses. It was embarrasing at $50 a person. ( we would have had a better meal had we ordered the mussels, pot roast and a bottle of wine for our $)
MAS wine dinners are a delight. I hate to talk about them too much on web sites, as they are crowded already.
