Two beers at the Sky Ride Tap and a big greasy slice from Bacci.

60% of the time, it works every time.

Cappucino blast at Baskin Robbins. Ice, caffeine, ice cream. Way back when, they didn't all have cappucino in them and you could just get chocolate, which was my go-to hangover helper. Since I'm a coffee hater, I'm done with them.

You're made of sterner stuff than I. Just the thought of your suggestion on a hangover makes my knees turn to jello.

Big steaming bowl of matzo ball soup from Manny's.

Consume broth and save matz ball for pillow for quick post-lunch nap.

If that fails, join the gents who hang at the Roosevelt exit ramp on the Ryan to share a few swigs from the 40 oz. of the day.

Pedialyte only works as a pre-treatment, in my experience.

Polish off a bottle before passing out at 4am and wake up fresh as a daisy.

Nurse one throughout the morning and it won't do as much good.

Rossi's and Snickers should be open...

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Makes me realize that I need to get hungover more often to fully take advantage of all these fine options.
Though I couldn't go too far afield, as I was in very poor shape and on foot, I started out on wobbly legs towards Wells street thinking either La Cocina or Harold's or whatever struck my fancy. Unfortunately, my stubby, shaky legs and a serious wave of wooziness overtook me about a block from my office. Since I was in front of the AT&T building I went to the cafeteria on the 2d floor in search of the greasiest burger I could find. What I found was a dry hockey-puck of a burger, with fries that were prepared well ahead of the lunch rush. I painstakingly shook Frank's hot sauce into a little plastic to-go thing , loaded up on mayo (yes, I love mayo on a crappy burger), and several ketchup & mustard packs. Disgusting and wrong? yes. Did it hit the spot despite its many and varied shortcomings? oh yeah.
Thanks to one and all for the ideas, and particularly, Gary, for the reminder about Jim's pork chop sandwiches. Man I love those things and need to get back there. Another pointed thanks to WhiskeyBent for reminding me of the Skyride. Ahh, many good times have been had at the Skyride.

You were right about the burger part. Pepper's on Van Buren is so greasy I can ONLY eat it when hungover. And then it is the best food I've ever eaten.

Oh man! Peppers! I didn't think of that, and I might have been able to make it the extra block! Next time....
Actually, I think I need to become a FT alcoholic to give all of the suggestions a fair shake.

In the greasy burger vein, the only thing I can even think about eating when I'm truly hungover is a bacon cheeseburger combo meal from Wendy's. With a very large, very icy Coke. Depending on the severity of the hangover, it may be accompanied by a frosty, ideal for dipping french fries into.

I don't know why, but that's always been my go-to meal, and it's always worked for me.

Unless I'm misremembering, Harold's is no longer with us at Washington & Wells. A real shame, too, even if it wasn't the best of the, ahem, empire.
