I've been hearing people rave about donut peaches for a couple years, but I've got this standard, y'see: Food with fur on it either wasn't prepared right by the butcher, or has been sitting in my fridge too long.
So when I saw UFO Nectarines in Jewel the other day (I was just grabbing some lettuce for dinner on the way back from the post office, I swear), I grabbed four. At $3.49/lb, I was taking a gamble (and I'm sure I could find them at Jerry's or elsewhere for a lot less), but they smelled wonderful. They're small, about an inch tall, three times that wide.

And they are wonderful: About four small bites per fruit, they have a pit like a medium-sized plum, and juicy, pale flesh. The flavor is a bit nectarine, a little plum, floral and a bit tart. I'll buy these again, but hopefully at a more reasonable price.

    They sound good!

I saw them at Trader Joe's the other day (on Lincoln Ave.) - I think it was six for $2.99. I am loathe to buy those kinds of fruits because they always seem to be way too green, pass "Go" and go directly to spoiled. But I did try some apricots from Oakton Street Marketplace that were pleasantly perfect, so much so that they reminded me of my dad's garden in Washington state when we could pluck and eat them off the trees.

Does anyone know what the UFO fruits are?

Aren't they just the nectarine form of the Saturn peach (also known as donut peach). So basically just a fuzz-less Saturn peach.

And if they're as good as Saturn peaches, they're worth the price.
