    I'm fairly convinced outstanding and breaded steak sandwich, at least in Italianesque style of Ricobene’s, Uncle Johnny's, Freddie's etc do not belong together. Or, as Dickson so aptly put it, Is there such a thing as a good breaded steak sandwich?, to which my answer is no. I find, to quote Erik M, they tend to taste like "breaded carpet padding."

    I would be very much interested in where you are going for Chicago style breaded steak sandwiches.

    Dinuguan, which is basically a pig blood stew. I'm the only Filipino I know who doesn't adore the thick black soup.

    I really liked it when I was a lot younger, but then I saw it being prepared. The image of raw blood being poured into a stockpot was traumatizing for 8-year-old me and I have never had it since.

    Reminds of that Polish duck blood and plum soup. I liked it until one day when I saw some Polish grandma whack off a duck's head with an axe and hold the flapping carcass over a pan while blood spurted out the neck. Yikes.

    Haven't had that in a long time, since my father passed away. As kids we'd have the soup strained (yuk, those nasty prunes, etc). "I'll have some more chocolate soup and kluski noodles, please".

    Unfortunately, both of the places that I went to have closed: Sarah's on 26th Street and La Milanese on 31st & May. I'd give away my two best "Secret Places" in trade to the person who can furnish a lead to any place that can match those two.

    Gee this board would be a barren desert if most of our members took your approach. Why not take your offer to Craigslist!
