There aren't too many places to enjoy roasted Chinese duck. You'll never find authentic Peking duck in Chicago (but if anyone does please post!) but a good second is the duck hung from windows on Argyle St (Sun Wah) and in Chinatown.
Much to my surprise and delight, this style of duck is served in a panang curry dish at YES Thai on Damen (at Foster) in Andersonville. There is no fanfare behind this - it is just one of the protein options when you order curry- you know, "add $1 for chickem, $1 for tofu, $3 for duck."
I doubt the restaurant makes the duck becuase it is not offered elswhere on the menu but it's a dead ringer for roasted Chinese duck. So what you get is peices of duck, chopped Chinese style, in a spicy curry rich with coconut milk, carrots, bell peppers, slivers of fragrant Thai basil and kaffir lime leaf. It is the best take-out dish from a Thai restaurant that I have ever had and all for $11.
