    Hello,

I am looking for a fun spot for Ceviche that is located downtown/gold coast area. I heard a newer restaurant opened within the past six months, but after trying to search and do a little research, nothing is coming up.

There is no limit on price, I'm looking for something for a dinner with several girlfriends that is fun and not a boring atmosphere.

    Thanks

One of Chicago's most famous restaurants happens to make excellent ceviche, and is downtown in a fun setting.

Nacional 27 seems to fit your bill pretty well. It's a fun atmosphere with occasional live music and people-watching, etc. Get the ceviche tasting there. They also have special deals on food on Tuesdays and Thursdays (I think).

You might want to check out DeLaCosta. They offer a number of ceviches and my experience is that they have generally been pretty good, sometimes better. The atmosphere is somewhat upscale but fun, plenty of noise but not overpowering, and some fun cocktails.

Love, love, love ceviche. But I didn't love it at DelaCosta - though I wanted to. I thought the flavor combinations were a bit weird and didn't all work (for me, at least.) Frontera has a good one, but usually just one on the menu with marlin and olives. National 27 has some good ones, but it is hard for me because there's empanadas there too. I can't get past the empanadas. too. delicious.

You might not think of it, but Joe's Stone Crab has a dynamite, old-school shrimp and scallop ceviche. The only negative is that it comes with saltines instead of tortilla chips. The problem with Joe's is that everything is so good, not just the ceviche. It is hard to go there and not have stone crab, and of course the steak. You might end up spending a lot of money. But you could just go for drinks and ceviche (and a stone crab app.)

Maybe you mean with this statement to say that marlin with olives is the only variety of ceviche you like at Frontera. If you meant to say that Frontera has only one variety of ceviche, that is not true. There are always at least 3.

Frontera Grill is a great option for ceviche and margaritas, but it's hard to go there with a large group as you'll probably end up waiting for a while for a table or splitting yourself up at the bar. I've never been to DeLaCosta, but I've heard it's fun. Another option is Carnival - while not the best food of the bunch I've always found their ceviches interested (and sometimes really good), the drinks are tasty and I think it's a great place to go with a group.

    Have fun!

The thing that always gets me at DelaCosta are the little bread rolls made of tapioca flour and dusted with some parmesan. Always fresh. I just can't stop eating them.

They also do a whole roasted suckling pig on Wednesdays. It's free with drinks. The best part is that there's always plenty of the crispy skin because other people don't seem to dig it. Their loss!

You're right. I forgot that when they introduced that raw bar they also added more ceviche choices. They offer a trio tasting, don't they? For the longest time, they only had one consistently on the Frontera menu but that was a while back now. They also did have a special one now and again. I've been going there since the front of Topolobampo was the bar.
