Any recommendations? I need to set something up for my elderly mother-in-law. Looking for something "nice" for such a person, she'll eat pretty much anything.

This topic might give you some ideas. The list of MD places on opentable might give you some ideas, too, although it's incomplete. (FWIW, not only doesn't it show places that don't accept reservations on opentable - obviously - it also omits at least one place in the city that does, the one we're going to.)

Thanks very much. Someone on the other board had previously recommended Reza's in Oak Brook. Might give that a try.

Reza's brunch is very popular on any given Sunday with whole families and large groups. I'd call them today.

Cafe Amano in Elmhurst does a very nice brunch on certain holidays (Mothers' Day among them). We went there on Easter and were very pleased (I do know the owners, to be fair). I don't recall everything they had, but off the top of my head...assorted cheeses, salads, veggies, baked ham, beef tenderloin, chicken in a cherry hazelnut sauce (my favorite), a couple pasta dishes and seafood dishes, blintzes, eggs, omelettes and other breakfast stuff, assorted desserts (excellent cannoli). My in laws came with us and they can't wait to go back for Mother's Day. And it's $30pp (very good value for the price, imho). Anyway, you might want to give it a try.

My first thought was the Morton Arboretum. They're having a Mother's Day brunch for $34. It's a beautiful setting for brunch and then a ride or walk through the Arboretum to wear off some of the calories and enjoy the beauty. However, I just checked and they're sold out. Might want to keep it in mind for next year though! Or call to be put on a waiting list in case of cancellations?

We went to Tango's (Naperville) brunch for Father's Day last year and it was very good and not overly crowded.. somewhat limited though, but enjoyable.

What used to be Jonathan's on Roosevelt Road in Lombard is now The Odyssey (Greek Taverna). We heard that it's the same owners and they advertise a MD brunch. That's also a couple of miles or so to Lilacia Park, which should be in full bloom by Mother's Day.

Meson Sabika in Naperville would be another choice. The setting is in an old mansion, the tapas is excellent and the grounds are beautiful.

Dusting off an old thread to comment on Mother's Day brunch at Meson Sabika. There were 9 of us there yesterday. Groups of 7 or more were seated in the pavilion rather than the main house. Fine with us as mom is not especially mobile. Our original reservation was for 8 people. When I called to add one more, I was told they couldn't change it but they would do what they could. Seating the pavilion seemed to be all large rounds that could seat up to 10. Not sure why I was told I couldn't change, but it worked out fine.

It's a bountiful spread for $48.95/person (link to menu here). Cold tapas, hot tapas, prime rib carving station, grill station. Nothing was knock me over great, but there were several good dishes on the spread. A mimosa or glass of cava was included and we supplemented with white and red sangria. Our server was excellent and we never felt rushed, despite spending almost 3 hours there.
