This meal was not as good as the one I had last month, though I still loved the one-bite salad and the crispy fish salad. We had also had Larb Nar (which was ground chicken, not pork as I recalled) and papaya salad - I'm inclined that salads are where this restaurant really shines. I wonder if some of the other flavors were also toned-down to gringo along with the spice levels; I found a lot of the food to be somewhat bland, if cooked well. I hope others will continue to check out Tub Tim Thai and report back to see if this was an anomoly or if my first meal was one.
Our spice-averse newcomers (so new they don't seem to have signed up to attend) did, understandably, kind of drive the ordering. I think spicier would have been better. The one-bite salad was the standout dish to me. I also liked the crispy fish salad with its fried-to-a-crisp sardines (or whatever little fish they are). Unfortunately, the papaya salad never made it down to my end of the table, despite my great seat next to our photographer, nr706

. I also enjoyed the charcoal-grilled chicken which had a nice, if completely mild, charcoal taste. The other dishes were good but not outstanding.
If TTT were close to my house, I would certainly go there. It's way better than my nearest Thai (Siam Pasta). I will give TTT a try again, but for a neighborhood Thai place, I'd choose Elephant over TTT if I'm driving 15 minutes to get there.
