All three of the Lao restaurants offer delivery through grubhub.com, but with a $5 delivery fee and a $15 minimum.

Hi guys, I work for GrubHub and just wanted to bump this to say the Lao restaurants are offering free delivery for a limited time on GrubHub.com.

    Lao Beijing
    Lao Shanghai
    Lao Szechuan

I've only gotten food from Lao Shanghai, but it was good.

I've never used GrubHub, although I've visited the site - do you know offhand how far deliveries are made for the Lao restaurants?

The Lao restaurants deliver from Cermak to North Ave. and go pretty far west as well.

    Hope you try us!

That doesn't make much sense; they'll go 5 miles north but they won't go 3 blocks south?

Not complaining though, if I can get Lao Szechuan to deliver to my office maybe I can get my coworkers to stop ordering bad Chinese food.
Ronnie said I should probably tell you guys about my website so

    Hey I have a website.

It is a strange delivery boundary, but that's how the delivery service operates. They cover a set area for all of their restaurants to keep it simple.

Free Delivery offer expired yesterday for these restaurants unfortunately. I was hoping they would keep it going longer. The new restaurants with free delivery are: Baladoche, Veggie Bites, Pizzeria Due, and Hugo's Frog Bar, and of course tons of other places that always have free delivery on our site.

I lived in Pilsen for a while and Three happiness used to deliver to me, it was pretty good. They had a squid dish that I loved.

I'm shocked to have gone onto grubhub.com to order Lao Sze Chuan tonight, only to find out that the prices on grub hub are VERY inflated vs. eating in the restaurant.

I'm not here to bash grubhub or Lao Sze Chuan. I love Lao Sze Chuan. Also, I have not not noticed this problem on grubhub with other restaurants. I’m not speculating as to why or who is responsible for this price difference, I just wanted to make sure any first time Lao Sze chuan cusomers don't get the wrong impression on the affordability of the place. Keep in mind this isn’t because of delivery, since that is an additional $5 charge.

I looked at a few things on the menu at grubhub.com, Three Chili Chicken on grubhub was $14.25 instead of the usual $9.95 in the restaurant. The lamb with pure cumin was $16.95 instead of $11.95 and the pork stomach in garlic sauce was $7.25 instead of $4.50. This price hike is shockingly huge, so like I said I didn’t want anyone to make a mistake and order from grubhub when like me, the trip to Chinatown is more than worth the $50 difference in the bill!

Are you sure the LSC menu you were using for comparison is current?

Good question. I used the one from their website. I hope that is current, but it's possible that it isn't. I have eaten there within the last couple of months and don't remember the prices being that high, which is why I compared to begin with.

Can anyone confirm the prices on their current menu? I suppose if it is the case that the menu has been updated, we should delete this thread.

I was excited to hear LSC will deliver until I noticed the prices seemed quite high. Would also love to know if this is due to bump in prices at restaurant or a GrubHub.com charge.

Just for the hell of it I called* Lao Sze Chuan for prices on three of my favorite items and compared them to Lao Sze Chuan menu pricing on Menu Pages. Current prices are slightly higher than on the Menu Pages menu, but still lower than shown on GrubHub

    Tony's Three Chili Chicken - Was $9.95, now $10.95
Sliced Beef and Maw Szechuan Style - Was $4.45, now $5.45
Szechuan Spicy Rabbit - Was $5.95, now $6.45

that sounds right, thanks for calling Gwiv, much appreciated. My guess is that any additional cost added is a choice that the restaurnts make when going with the grubhub service since grubhub claims to not raise or add to the prices. Too bad this happened, I'd really love to eat Lao Sze Chuan in front of the fireplace, watching netflix.

Since Gwiv was kind enough to call LSC for us, I gave grub hub a call to get to the bottom of this. What happens is that these restaurants that use a delivery service allow the delivery service to add a percentage to the menu items.

To avoid making the mistake, there is an option on grubhub.com, after you enter your address, to but a check mark by "Don't use delivery services" which will rule out any that add a percentage. Also if it says "Delivered via delivery service" when you search a restaurant you can bet that the prices will be higher.

So, basically it follows the "I buy, you fly" adage?
