happy_stomach wrote:The recipes question is an excellent one. I was mainly thinking about eating and talking about baking, but questions about recipes will surely arise. I think if recipes can be swapped, that'd be fantastic. If some people would rather not share a recipe and only the dessert itself, that'd be fine by me, but, again, others can offer opinions. I don't want to make up the rules for the group.

I'm not sure if I'm the one you had in mind, but I do have a culinary school degree and have spent time working as a professional baker. (Although I'm out of the industry now.) Obviously I have no problems with a professional baker participating - is the general consensus that it's ok?

It's either my chocolate mint cheesecake or sour cream apple pie.
Done.
Ms. Stomach, is there anything I can do to make dinner go smoother? Bring a wine, paper plates, etc.? You'll be doing more work, after all...
happy_stomach wrote:As for dinner, I should be fine. I'm planning on just making two soup options (gotta leave room for dessert!)--a heartier soup (maybe a turkey chili) and a vegetable soup (glazed carrot or a creamy squash... anything that will let me use my still-new immersion blender). I've got lots of bowls and a dishwasher. I'll have wine, beer, coffee, tea. I'll let you know if I think of anything closer to the date, but otherwise I'm happy to do what I can to facilitate the dessert swapping.

Thanks

Would love to come.

I was just thinking, I have my pie plate and a nice big ziploc container for my soon-to-be received goodies, but am I supposed to bring separate containers for everybody else instead?
Thanks!
By the way, I did decide on bringing sour cream apple pie.

I have my cake w/me at work, and I carried it in my cake container. I'm just planning to bring home the goodies in that container after I share my cake w/the others. We can definitely discuss how to handle it for future months. Hope this helps?
