My free ($15 S&H) Senseo single-serve coffee maker arrived today. Black model. Have to say I rather like the looks of this baby though one thing that bothers me is the fact that the stand portion and base portion attach taking up semi-sizeable kitchen counter space. Would have preferred two separate parts. Anyway, there are a few small parts to this machine - water compartment and its top, base filter, pod holder, pod, and drain catcher. All can apparently be cleaned in the dish washer. That's cool.
The maker came with a pod storage holder and an 18-pod bag of Medium Roast (normal unflavored coffee). I must say, I absolutely love the efficiency of this machine - the cup took about 35 seconds or so to brew. That's nice. I also must really commend Senseo for the frothy cup of coffee prodcued by this machine. Really nice.
However, I did not like the Medium Roast in the least. Relatively tasteless and weak as hell. Would need about 8 of these for every one of my Extra Bold Sumatra or Turkish coffee standards.
That said, the efficiency of it, nice appearance, ease of use, apparent ease to clean and the fact it brews a wonderful looking and textured coffee score big point in my book. Now if I could just find a quality coffee for this machine to brew I could throw away my Mr. Coffee.
Anybody out there who also loves a big, bold tasty coffee that can recommend an Senseo or other workable generic pods for this machine I might like?
