The rumor is true. Some of the staff works at both Massa and Inari.

I was skeptical about Inari at first, but its become my go-to spot for sushi in the area. . .even more so that Sushi House on Lake Street in Oak Park. I'm particularly fond of the super white tuna and the ceviche roll, which is yellow tail with a zingy rough-chopped salsa and cilantro on top of the roll. I'll sometimes just get the tuna-avocado appetizer as my lunch.

Another solid option is the mushroom and beef roll, which is burstingh with mushroom flavor and generous in size.

If you saw the place on the 190 North tv show, you may have seen my bald head on the screen for about .53 seconds.

Another data point brought to you by restaurant.com:
Went last night. Decent sushi. Seemed a little pricey for being in Elmwood Park next to New Star, across the street from a Dominicks, but whatever. I grew up in these parts, and I'll never be able to see anything here as "fancy" totally MY fault. I can't really say anything stood out as stellar, but I can say that the cucumber salad was horrid. Vinegary to the point of well, just wrong. The three of us at the table all agreed. Inedible. I was the only one who took more than one chopstickfull just to make sure my tongue wasn't playing games with me. The dressing was overwhelmed with vinegar to the point of like astringency where the vinegar wafts up into your sinuses. Yeah - flat out wrong. We ordered the chef's choice sushi tsuname at 23.00, and all the standards for nigiri (no hikkigai or saba on the menu which was kinda dissapointing, but whatevs) and nothing was disappointing except for the namasake which was a little on the older side of nicely fresh - not BAD though. We also had a fashion roll for a fallback for a first time sushi eater at the table, and a spicy tuna roll. The fashion roll was one with fried something or other and unagi sauce. Everything else was fairly decent. Also tried their tempura of mixed fish and veggies which was fair to middlin'. No need for fried zucchini or yellow squash in tempura if you're gonna slice it really thin. Makes the insides (squash's seeds) really mushy, and bordeline slimy. Outside of that, everyone really liked it. Definitely be back with coupon in hand. Sushi was fairly decent here, and a decent price with the coupon.

I thought the place at best average, very average and thought for the money you could do much better. I will not go back.

I pretty much agree with "you could do better for the price," but restaurant.com took care of that issue quite handily for me. Do you know a place in the area that is better? There are plenty of joints all over the city that are better, but for the Elmwood Park area, I didn't find it disappointing - (again, with coupon, that is.)

For what it's worth, I think either of the sushi places in Oak Park are better, but just barely.

I ordered take-out from there many months ago, and for the price and what I received I decided it would not be worth it to go back. It looks like that has not necessarily changed. When in the world is a good Japanese place going to open up in these parts?
