I would actually rate Shiroi Hana's sushi as just short of edible. Sushi is not something you should risk cheaping out on.

I'll heartily second this. Back when we were dating, my wife used to love this place for some reason (probably because she was a strict vegetarian at the time, so it didn't matter to her)...after trying the raw items there once and being quite displeased, I made it a personal rule to stick with stuff like miso soup, "krab"-based maki, veggie tempura, etc.

I've been kicked outta there before. Let's just say it was "guy's night out," there was too much drinking and other "stuff" going on, and, long story short, throwing pickled ginger and lumps of wasabi around won't win over your itamae. Admittedly, we were total idiots back then, and it's nothing I'm proud of, but, oh man was that a funny night. We paid our bill in full, and left a very generous tip as we were very sternly asked to leave by several of the employees before we could finish our food. They were well within reason, and we knew it so we did not argue. We offered to help clean up. They weren't interested. Ok, back on topic...

Just found out that Sushi Sai (135 N. Wacker) has $20 all you can eat after 3pm weekdays and all day weekends. Small extra cost for some of their premium rolls, but almost everything is else is covered.

The fish is very good and they serve beer....

When you do go, please report back your experience. A friend went to an all-you-can-eat sushi place, where you were penalized if you didn't eat all your rice. It will be interesting if you unearth some undisclosed caveats.

I went here with a friend for the first time last week and thought it was passable, but didn't leave me wanting to go back for more. I enjoy sushi, but will freely admit that it's rarely a food I crave. I think that part of this is that really good (or even just good) sushi makes for an expensive evening. I was hopeful that something like AYCE sushi would be good enough to satisfy me and yet be reasonably priced, unfortunately Shiroi Hana left me thinking "I'll just pass on sushi until I feel like forking out for the good stuff"
