Yummyuck is a fun and easy way to find restaurants, bars, and clubs in any City!
The concept is simple: when you're making up your mind about where to go, you visit Yummyuck and browse through our reviews and photos of different bars and clubs. See what people have experienced in terms of price, cuisine, ambience etc & see what they recommend. Not only do we present reviews for you to read, but Yummyuck is bursting with photos, so you can actually look at the inside of a place before going, saving you money and time. Find out what types of people go there and what the atmosphere is like, all before stepping inside the place.
Make friends with foodies across the world, share your experience & find out what's Yumm or Yuck :-)

Wow. What a great idea. I wish someone had thought to create a website like that sooner....oh wait, you're posting on one.

My annoyance is somewhat mitigated by the fact that googling "yummyuck" brings this up as the first post. (who thought of that name?)

Welcome, stranger - your Google-Fu is strong. In following the wrong path in the search for truth, you have yet found your way to enlightenment: begin at the GNR (Great Neighborhood Restaurant) List.

Isn't this kind of like going into a Mac forum to advertise Microsoft?

I think it's like going to a Mac forum to advertise Bob.

Not to defend yummyuck or its idea but werent there many food forums/sites before LTH and wont there be many more after? Should the people at roadfood think of those at LTH in the same way, they did have the idea before, no?

Babi your better off posting someplace else, anyone that needs any info on food here in Chicago is going to find it right here and most people already do but good luck.

True, but last time I checked, the LTH mods weren't cruising Chowhound advertising LTH.

That site brought back memories - circa 1995 - of surfing the internet. The pages load v-e-r-y slowly - just like the Slowski commercials. It was like using a 14400v baud modem.

I did not see many reviews of Chicago restaurants and the search function, well, is unique in that they do not organize the choices by state. It is one of the worst designed sites that I have seen in a long time.

I support all those who are fighting the good fight for good food, but I'm puzzled by the solitary review of Honey 1: it was posted 3,125 days ago.

Amazingly ( ), someone managed to steal that review from Yummyuck a month ago and post it on Yahoo.

I hesitate to post this for fear of driving some traffic to a less-than-worthless site but I was surprised to find some of my comments, almost verbatim, used without my permission on YummYuck.

On LTHForum, Rene G wrote:Lanuti's in Ladd, family-run for over a century, reportedly sells more turtle than anyone in Illinois. The interior is a beautiful 1940s tavern, worth a trip just for a $1 schooner of beer. Lanuti's prepares their turtle simply: large chunks are battered and deep fried, served without adornment.

Delicious turtle, seafood and the area's finest "family style" chicken with tortellini and spaghetti!

I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. I wonder if any content on that miserable site is legitimate.

They can't have copied you, Rene - after all, they used the word "schooner" where you used the word "glass." Obviously this site has a reporter in Ladd, IL who does nothing but eat turtle and drink beer.

I hope you (and maybe the LTH powers that be) sent them a very nasty email to whoever is sponsoring the site. Grrr.

The same thing happened to me on Metromix. I looked there to find out the dates of this year's St. Harbalambos Greek Food Fest, and found the review I wrote of the festival on LTH, 2 years ago with (very) minor changes and somebody else's name attached. I believe the review was submitted by a user and not the staff of the site, but it is the only thing that comes up when you search for the festival, and it is the 3rd ranked listing on a Yahoo search.

Dave, did you report the stolen comment to Metromix? I can understand if you thought it wouldn't be worth your time, but this kind of casual plagiarism is revolting.

I was pretty steamed when I first realized what it was, but then I figured that it is the only thing that comes up on metromix about the fest, and it is a way cool festival, and if they pulled the comment, then there would be nothing describing the event. Maybe it was just somebody trying to promote the event that liked what I had to say about it. They did a really bad job of editing (they tried to turn it from first person to third person). Still, they should have contacted me.
