Has anyone seen these ingredients, preferably at a brick-and-mortar store?

Aji amarillo is Peruvian yellow pepper. I'm looking for fresh but I'd be interested in canned versions in case fresh proves unavailable.

I'm interested in Andean corn whether canned or frozen. Fresh would be astonishing, even at farmers' markets.

Fresh purslane, at a store, if possible, but if you've seen it at a farmers' market, please let me know which.

Anywhere in the Chicago area is fine, city or suburbs.

    Thanks!

We bought purslane last month at the Thursday farmer's market in Geneva which features all local grown produce, meat and cheeses. I haven't been to it in 3 weeks so I'm not sure if this is something available more in spring.

I'm certain I've seen purslane at Supermercado Chapala on Clark St, though I don't know that it's always in stock (does purslane have a season? Seems to grow in my sidewalk year-round) I've also seen it at varying times in the Evanston Farmer's Market, but couldn't tell you when.

Aji amarillo -- look for it in jars (not cans) in La Unica and/or El Mercado. The Peruvian places in town use it plenty, so a call to one of them might work if all else fails. But I'm certain I've seen it in the places mentioned above. Just haven't been in either lately.

I always have a jar of aji amarillo in the fridge (love it in ceviche). I purchase it at the Cermak on Kedzie between Montrose and Irving. Green Acres has been selling purslane at the Green City Market this summer.

You can almost always find purslane at any Latin American/Mexican market. It's labeled verdolaga. Or try your back yard. See www.acooksguide.com for an article on weeds.

The Cermak Produce on Kedzie regularly carries fresh purslane and frozen Andean corn in addition to the aji amarillo noted by Kennyz. The eastern parts of Irving Park and Albany Park seem to have a material Ecuadorian and Peruvian population.

Harold Lange had purslane at the Lincoln Square Farmers' Market yesterday.

Thanks, folks! I knew I could count on you. Someone also told me they'd seen purslane at Whole Foods.
Alas, my yard is big on burdock, which is not nearly so tasty a weed.

Thanks again for the advice, everyone. The recipe for which I was searching for the corn and peppers is now online:

Sobremesa supper club makes a sauce from Aji amarillo that is incredibly addictive. I also read in Sula's review that Tanta is serving a dish with it.

I remember wandering in to the grocery store next to Tango Sur and thinking that they carries a lot of Peruvian products. Here's a link to their site:

    http://folklorechicago.com/El_mercado/home.html

They list a fairly large number of Peruvian items in their inventory, but I somehow doubt it is completely accurate:

At any rate, the butcher shop is worth a visit for their sausages or vacio.
