Cookie Monster and I spoke at the picnic about having another single food centered exchange. We had a great time at her place for Dumpling Fest and at that time thought that we might do another featuring fruit dumplings. After a brief discussion,
we decided on soup. Here are the particulars:
An Homage to Soup3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 25, 2009
Location: Ms. Ingie's House in Oakbrook Terrace (near the Oakbrook Center mall, Rt. 83 & 22nd Street)
- The event is limited to 10 since that's how many I can comfortably sit around my dining room table. If we should be so blessed with Indian Summer, we can sit on my deck.
- Bring any type of soup you wish. You don't need to double or triple the recipe as we'll be having a smaller portion of each soup. Six to 12 servings should be sufficient. Feel free to use my stove to heat your soup or bring it hot (unless you're bringing a cold soup). I can put five or six pots of soup on my stove and I have a couple of slow cookers, so we can keep soup warm in them as well.
- I will have dishes, spoons, etc. as well as beverages. Any suggestions?
The guest list is as follows:
Ms. Ingie - Butternut Squash Soup
Cookie Monster - Cream of fresh pea and fresh bread
mrsm - Red Lentil or Roasted Tomato and Black Bean Soup
mrsm's guest - Orange and clove scented black bean soup
LAZ - Birnensuppe (German pear soup)
RheS - Rustic Whole (sort of) Wheat Bread
irisarbor - Ham and Split Pea Soup

Life is too short, why skip dessert?
