    Hi,

I'm down here in Champaign-Urbana at my new job. One of my co-workers recently had jellyfish for the first time and was wondering how you source them. How do they travel? Frozen, canned... ? Seems unlikely.

Anyhoo, if anyone knows, please share!

    Thanks!

So can you buy dried jellyfish in Asian grocery stores? I don't recall seeing them.

I would imagine you can find them in any well-stocked Chinese or Japanese grocery. No guarantees though!

When a mommy jellyfish and a daddy jellyfish love each other very, very much....I'm not so sure I am comfortable talking to you about this. Maybe you should ask your mother.

Dried, salted, preserved. Most any Chinese grocery will have them.

Here is a link to a Frugal Gourmet recipe I've made a number of times, along with a picture of a package of jellyfish. Be sure to soak multiple times or the end result will be overly salty.

In the Frugal Gourmet Jellyfish Salad recipe you have a couple of choice to go with the garlic in the dressing, I've tried all three (separately) and prefer the hot/Chinese mustard option.

Wow I never knew people ate jellyfish. But why not when others eat sea urchin and sea slug. I've had both of those and hated it but I'm up for trying anything at least once!

Try sea urchin a few more times, preferably at higher end sushi bars and restaurants. It's one of those things where they need to be using top quality roe and using it fresh. It's an acquired taste for many, but I think you'll acquire it.

My sole jellyfish experience was at Schwa, and it didn't make me want more.
