Post #1 - November 30th, 2009, 8:18 pmSome are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have the Evanston Lunch Group thrust upon 'em!
Since I was appointed to be the organizer this month, I decided to go maverick and choose Manghal, a brand-new restaurant up the street on Howard that I know almost nothing about, other than that they're kosher. Only one or two mentions on the forum so far indicate nobody else has tried it, either - so we're all jumping in together.

**Due to an oversight on my part, we will be rescheduling lunch at Manghal for another time, and will be having lunch on Dec. 18 at Edzo's instead. See you there! (At least I probably don't need to call the restaurant for this one!)

Post #7 - December 1st, 2009, 1:31 pmI have not eaten there but stopped in to look at the menu and it smelled GREAT - the menu looks good Israeli similar to Taboum - the reviews I have been hearing though have been very positive with some minor that seem to be they might still be working out the rough edges - I will try to make it over but if I do not I will look forward to your reviews -

Post #9 - December 9th, 2009, 5:27 pmAre we sure Manghal's is open on Fridays for lunch? By coincidence, I received a flyer from them today, and it appears they are closed on Fridays and Saturdays.
PS. Just called them, and they in fact are only open Monday-Thursday and Sunday, 12-9 pm all five days.

At any rate, my schedule is somewhat up in the air for that week, so it doesn't matter much to me whether we change the place or the date...I'm tentatively available on Wednesday of that week (god willing and the creek don't rise... ) thoughts?

Post #16 - December 14th, 2009, 10:30 pmGrits, of course you're welcome - FWIW, I'm not making reservations, it's just not that kind of place - we'll all just order on our own and hope for the best, table-wise (though, thus far, even busy as it's been, I've always had success snagging a table after my order gets placed)
Um, however - I just found out that Sparky's school holiday thing is at 1:30 - I was wondering if we could push up to noon? What do you all think? I'm thinking we're going to have to get there early to make the day work, anyway...
