Thank you for sharing your memories and experiences. They ring so true - how many of us end up cherishing what we thought was torturous to us as moody teenagers.
how many people may have had a terrible day, gotten the worst news of their lives, or the best, and came to hashalom for a celebration or solace because it's worn and familiar, or just a damn good, cheap meal.
What a great line about Ha'Shalom - really captures it's essence - see my earlier post about just such an experience.
What a loss this is. I can't think of another restaurant I would feel this sad about if it closed. Manny's maybe, it is a treasure, but in such a different way than Ha'Shalom.
Boy, I'll miss the braised lamb shank. I'll try to get in one or two last times.
