It's the former Krispy Kreme location.

Post #6 - April 2nd, 2010, 9:55 pmThere is a sign in the window of the former KFC/Pizza Hut at 60 E. Lake St, indicating that a Japanese restaurant is coming. I live across the street from there, so hopefully it'll be good, but I have my doubts based on the location and the generic 'Japanese restaurant' title.

Post #7 - April 2nd, 2010, 10:24 pmElliot's Dairy at Gunnison and Narragansett closed last week... I finally stopped by to check it out, and the doors were locked and the shelves were being cleared.
(It was the end of March, but that thread was already closed, so I'm posting it here.)
It sounds like it was very sudden... don't know if the catering will continue in some form or not. The web site has an ad that was good through 3/17/10, so it must have been a very fast decision.
I'm really sad I didn't get in there before it shut down.

It was so sudden that they didn't even get to stop their deliveries. I read that in the Pioneer paper, but I can't find a link online.

Sorry for the vague information, but I just saw it in passing. I felt it was worth noting because judging from the fresh, modern look of the logo, it just might be a new type of thing, a cafe serving something other than the standard fare.

Oh that really makes me sad. I remember getting pickles from the barrel when I was little and was looking forward to taking my son over there for the same experience.

Oh man, Vernon Hills is tantalizing close (but will have to compete with the siren call of those KFC Snackers, which sadly are a vice). Didn't know Ben & Jerry's closed. Kind of a shame, not that I had been there in a decade, but it was where I first discovered then unique chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream back in the Clinton administration.

Post #30 - April 11th, 2010, 11:43 amI drove by Ciao Napoli Pizzeria (2607 N Milwaukee Ave, just off the circle in Logan Square) and it's ****finally open****. From the reviews on Yelp, it looks like they could use a little time to work out the kinks. I am happy to see anything other than an empty storefront in the neighborhood, and I'm hoping this will turn into a nice little pizza joint.
