As of 4/13, the last time I drove by, the Baja Fresh on Waukegan near Lake-Cook in Deerfield was still open. Did that one close also?

per Cheap Date:
Thank you for taking the time to contact Baja Fresh. The Baja Fresh restaurants you are inquiring about are no longer members of our franchise community. At Baja Fresh we take guest satisfaction very seriously, and unfortunately there were a number of operational and financial issues that led us to terminate our relationship with our Illinois franchisee and close all Baja Fresh restaurants in the Illinois Market. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our loyal Baja Fresh Customers. There are no immediate plans to open another restaurant in this area; however Baja Fresh currently has 254 restaurants in 20 states and is continuously growing in its number of locations.

Is the Phoenix Inn finally re-opening? While the place didn't have the best reputation for Chinese food, it reportedly was Evanston's oldest restaurant in continuous operation, dating back to 1924, until being closed by the fire.

Still anxiously awaiting what "pub with outdoor patio" is gonna be on the northwest corner, in the old liquor store.

From Pompei to Noodles & Company
A new restaurant is slated to open in early May at the corner of Lake and Harlem, filling a storefront in the River Forest Town Center that has sat vacant since December.
Noodles & Company, a national chain specializing in pasta dishes with Asian, Mediterranean and American flavors, may open in early May at 7215 Lake, according to Steve Gutierrez, village administrator in River Forest.
Municipal officials are already processing paperwork for the new business, and renovations at the site are ongoing. The restaurant's Web site states it will be opening soon in River Forest, but does not offer a timeline.
A call to Mid-America, the leasing agent for the property, was not immediately returned.
The address is the former home of Pompei, a small Chicago chain of Italian restaurants that closed somewhat unexpectedly in December.
That business made a splash just prior to its closing when the manager was arrested for allegedly stealing several thousand dollars from the restaurant.

Living about 75 yards away, I've been awfully impressed with the turnaround on the facade of that building, which quickly turned from one of the worst eyesores in the 'hood into a pleasant-looking space. I’ll patronize the place even if it stinks, just to thank them for cleaning up so many years of dreck.
