Those oyster shooters are pretty good. The schnitzel ain't bad either. I had their fried chicken the last time I was there and I likely will have it again. My wife goes bonkers for their fried chicken livers, but I think they're too heavily breaded (but I'm not exactly a connoisseur of fried chicken livers).
You can eat pretty well there for very cheap.
It's the first place my wife took me on our first trip to Louisville. We went at lunch. The only person working that afternoon was a nice old lady. Just before preparing our food orders, she said to me to go behind the bar and get our Fall City out of the drop-in. That's when I knew that Flabby's, really all of those Germantown neighborhood joints, are very special places.

Next time I'm in Louisville, I'll take some pictures of the Germantown bar-restaurants. I think people from Chicago will very much appreciate these places.
I hate kettle cooked chips. It takes too much effort to crunch through them.

Flabby's closed in the summer of 2010.

Mazzoni's, another Louisville great, also shut its doors not long ago. This tavern, famous for rolled oysters, had been in business since 1884.

Also, Kaelin's, the self-described "birthplace of the cheeseburger," went out of business after about 75 years. That's three of Louisville's oldest and most famous eateries, gone.

According to this discussion Flabby's closed without warning in July. From what you say it sounds like it still might be intact. Hopefully it can reopen with a new owner.

Oh my. This is terrible. I'm from Louisville, Kentucky, and Mazzoni's and Kaelin's were fixtures. I've never heard of, or been to, Flabby's but I love a lot of those little unknown places in Germantown--remnants of a bygone era.

A sign of the times....too bad those places couldn't make it.
