Basil Haydens may be the business traveler's best friend. It frequently shows up on receipts as "Basil H" or "Basil"...which is about as innocuous as drinks get for the expense report.

Your wines look very interesting. What did you eat with the spatlese /auslese? Cheers, Doug.

Also, if you don't mind sharing, where did you find the Dirler Kessler Riesling? I've had it in restaurants in Alsace but haven't seen it in the US.

I would be pretty dangerous with an expense account.![]()
Hoping the place I am going to for dinner tonight has some Basil on hand, or maybe even some Pappy.

Left a newly opened bottle of Highland Park 18-year single malt at our summer cabin last week and I'm seriously missing it. It's singlehandedly redefined my opinion of single malts.
The upside? I'm headed to the cabin in about 5 hours...

Sodom tapped on Wednesday and they don't have a lot of it, so if you want to try it you better hurry in. In my mind it was comparable to some of the better Dark Lord vintages -- it's excellent. You can do a 5oz sample of Sodom for $4, snifters are $9. Interesting to do a side-by-side with the small beer made from the same batch.
Apparently they also put some in barrels for aging. Looking forward to that down the road. Three Floyds also got some kegs of it, so those closer to there can watch for it to show up in their pub.

Had both at the Great Taste in Madison this past weekend. Excellent beers. I really like the Gomorrah as a small beer. Tons of flavor and only 3.4% abv. Hopefully that Barrel Aged Soddom will be at FOBAB this November.

Obtained from the brewery, I assume? Or, did it slip below the state line without my noticing.
