I need help...does anyone here remember the all-time greatest Gyros sandwich ever created? I'm speaking, of course, of the small, family-owned joint on the west-side of Broadway. A couple two-tree blocks south of Belmont and a couple two-tree north of Barry. You'd climb the few steps to enter, the Gyros spit is on the right...6 or 8 laminated tables...a small TV hanging from the far wall...the all-time most adorable sweet-hearted teenager manning the register.
Oh man the Gyros...I won't go into detail since anyone who knows what I'm talking about (if anyone) needs no descriptors...just the best ever.
I'd get my fix 2-3 times per week during the early to mid 1990's, then moved from the neighborhood. Went back for my injection a year or two ago and my beloved is GONE!
You must understand, this Gyros on Pita, to this day, is my single favorite food-craving ever. EVER! Of course, I've tried pretty much every Gyros in the city...nothing even comes close. The Chase of the Dragon led me to post here after all these years...
My family enjoys top-shelf food, and they have $. I dine probably 12-15 times per year at Les Nomades, Spiaggia, Naha, MK, Nomi, etc...But my favorite is that Broadway Gyro! CRAVINGS!!!
If anyone can provide any info (maybe they moved years ago?) I would be grateful
