Now there's an idea for a slow day thread (whether or not this is one). Where have you not been, that you'd be vaguely abashed to admit in front of LTHForum you've never been to?

Mine is an ethnic food place that normal non-food-crazed people go to, that's relatively near my house, that I even used to patronize the small grocery it grew from... yet somehow, I've never actually eaten at Tango Sur.

Confess your sins of omission, LTHers. (And produce some ideas of places to go to, along the way...)

    pretty short list for me,

    GNR's:
Khan BBQ - parking blows around there
    Tac Quick
    Uncle Johns - I dont like carry-out

    Non GNR's:
Red Hot Ranch - one of these days after Toon's

not too many regrets on where I havent eaten yet, other than these 4. most likely if I havent eaten somewhere its not on my list of places I want to eat.

Jim (and anyone else who hesitates to head to Khan's because of parking): I hate to think of your not trying chicken boti because of parking. I've posted this free parking map from the West Ridge Chamber of Commerce before. The Devon Bank lot is less than half a block from Khan's. Mutual Bank, also listed on the map, has now become "United Central Bank" (can these bank names get any more generic?), and I don't know if they are honoring the free parking commitment. We are lucky enough to be able to walk to Devon Avenue.

The Pay-at-the-Box system has really helped the parking situation around Devon & Western lately. I've been up to Khan a 4-5 times this year, and all but once I've parked directly in front or just across the street. The one time my luck ran out, I still only parked a half block north on Western.

Don't let yourself suffer from boti deprivation any longer!

    This is a myth.

I park around there frequently, around dinner time, on Western within a block or two of Devon to the north or south without a problem. Khan is a frequent take-out spot for me because parking is pretty darn easy.

EDIT: Didn't see Eva's parking tips, but I've never needed those lots.

This is not in order, just what comes to my mind right now:

    Abundance Bakery
    Big Star
    DMK
    Xoco
    Floriole
Frontera Grill ( I had planned a birthday gathering there back when the area was gritty but my grandmum died and the funeral was in NC and just never got there)

Girl and the Goat (Izzard was charming and had good food last week at the Chef's Demo at Green City Market but I swear the name of the place just continues to make me think of a porn title)

    Topolobampo
    Spring
    Spiaggia
    Cafe Spiaggia
Semiramis( I have a Groupon that's about to expire so hopefully I will rectify that this week)-- Mission Accomplished!

Chicago Diner (don't let them take my vegetarian card  )

I've never been to Lao Sze Chuan. Or LTH, for that matter. Or Great Lake.

I've never set foot in a Lou Malnati's or eaten Gino's East pizza. I've never had a kernel of Garrett's popcorn.

I also have never been to The Namesake, and I've somehow still never been to Avec.

Others I haven't checked out but really, really want to:
    Birrieria Zaragoza
    Calumet Fisheries
Podhalanka (it's right down the street from us, and I've been dying for some bigos, yet never manage to get there)
    Scooter's
Sticky Rice (always pass it on the way back from Spoon Thai and say to myself, "next time...", always forget by next time)

I have a pretty huge list of places to try. The most glaring are probably:

Patty's (I'm not a breakfast guy, so this probably has to wait until an out-of-towner who actually eats breakfast stays with me)
    Frontera and Topo
    Great Lake
    Burt's Place
    Sun Wah
    Paradise Pup
    Scooter's
A bagel from New York Bagel & Bialy

There are several more, but I don't want to bore you all. It's hard to find people to go with me since most of my friends are as far from the foodie label as humanly possible, but I'm slowly working through it.

My list is too long to mention, but I also live near the Wisconsin boarder and might be moving to Kenosha. One place I really want to try is Well's Brothers. All that a friend of mine, who lives up that way, keeps saying is "It's in a REALLY bad neighborhood", but that doesn't bother me if the food is good,.

If you live near the Wisconsin border, where Well's is located, you have no excuse. Far as the neighborhood, it may be "bad" by Wisconsin border town standards, but I'd take my mother for a post pizza walk around the block and never give it a second thought. And yes, I like my mother. :)

I haven't been to a lot of places I'd like to. My love of fatty birds, Chinese foods, and great prices, however, makes Sun Wah the most glaring omission of mine, imo.
