Not sure what the protocol is for starting a new thread (as this restaurant was mentioned in other threads), but here goes:

Just had dinner at the Naperville location of Ted's Montana Grill. My husband and I both had bison cheeseburgers and fries, and I have to say, they were really, really good. Both were cooked a perfect medium rare and were, quite frankly, delicious. Service was great. I really knew nothing of this place -- which is a chain --until today, and it's a Ted Turner operation, I believe. I would definitely go back -- especially since I love a good bison burger.

I know this is off topic but i had to throw it in....

I was at the Brookfield Zoo several weeks ago where they were serving all manner of bison at the Bison Prairie Grill overlooking the bison habitat. My kids didn't figure anything out but I felt a little strange chomping down on a bison burger while watching the bison herd thunder around in the distance. Btw, it was not a great rendition...

We've been to the Glenview location a few times and it's been a good, solid experience each time. The chain also embraces eco-friendly, sustainable practices which gets it a few extra points in my book.

I believe he has the largest herd of bison in the US so this was a good way to capitalize on that.

I have been going to the Bolingbrook location for a long time. I think their food is good to very good. They seem to prefer fresh ingredients. I have always liked the bison burgers.

Jaubar wrote about their: “eco-friendly, sustainable practices”. I only wished they didn’t follow them in the restroom that borax soap is hard to get used to.

Ted's a good standby, IMO. I've eaten a couple of times at the one in downtown Atlanta when there on business. The staff are always incredibly nice when I've asked for carryout so I can work back in my hotel room, and do an immaculate job. I particularly recall a wonderful strawberry shortcake dessert special that they packed so that the cream & ice cream etc was separate that I could easily assemble it when I was ready to eat.

Back when my sister lived in the Atlanta 'burbs we would hit up Ted's on a quasi-regular basis. I remember liking the bison chili, the bison pot roast and the bison burgers (not all 3 in one sitting, tho) quite a bit. Made for a great lunch while out doing the holiday shopping. I didn't know any were around here, might go refresh my memory.

I'm in Bozeman, MT for an elk hunt and had dinner last night at Ted's downtown in a group of 11. It's located in what appears to be an old hotel building. Neat atmosphere and chock full on Friday night.

We were pleased with the food and service. Bison burgers and steaks cooked as ordered and the meat was delicious. A little gamey but that's what we were looking for. I don't know what the big deal is with the salt and pepper onion rings as they tasted like onion rings. The guys that had the creamed spinach with their steaks were savoring every bite. Fries, with my BOC bison burger, were limp and not hot. The only bummer of the evening.

The granny smith apple cobbler was a good capper following entrees and several Jameson's. I'd go back for sure.

Glad to see some other Ted's fans out there. I love their selections, and just recently had the bison short ribs and they were pretty good. Not as good as the steaks or burgers, but a nice change of pace. Absolutely LOVE the fries - in fact, I think they are amongst the best fries in the area.
