espite a surprisingly good crust, everything about this pizza was below subpar: canned mushrooms, overcooked green peppers, weak (barely even there) sauce, and way too much cheese.
As an outspoken advocate of Gigio's, I can only say that I order the pepperoni and cheese or maybe sausage and cheese. When dining on Gigio's pizza it is pointless to focus outside of meat, grease, bread and cheese.. Honestly, other than pizza, I think the remainder of their menu is fried stuff... My wife yells at me from ordering from here because I can't get her a salad. You see, my wife feels that if the pizza joint serve's a salad, the overall healthiness value of the pizza joint increases. Mind you, we never bother to order the salad, but knowing it is there makes it better.... I guess...
Back to Gigio's and their lack of fresh veggies.. What I like to imagine is that there are no fresh vegetables within a 200 foot radius of the place, which is part of a grand conspiracy conjured up as a flying 'FU' to Wolfgang Puck. Of course this is probably the bourbon talking (typing) and Gigio's is really just a mom and pop joint that 'do what they do' and have no good reason to change.
However , I have never had an issue with the sauce strength nor the cheese ratio issues you brought up - as far as I know "too much cheese" = "chupacabra" (unless you are lactose intolerant)
There is no accounting for taste!
