Classic diner fare at Ramova Grill or, on the opposite end of the healthy scale, Nana for all organic.

I like Ramova. If you'll be in Bridgeport on a Sunday, Nightwood is not that far away. Brunch is served from 9:30am-2:00pm.

I have been having lunch at Nana's all this week, so didn't want to double up for breakfast. I'll be trying Ramova's today. With Z's and Wiv's blessing, I'm sure it will be better than Huck Fins or Scotts Hamburger Heaven (where I've been going thus far). Thanks everyone.

While subjective I would agree Ramova is "atmospheric" but contend the food is a step up from Scott's or Huck Finn. In the general area I am a fan of Kevin's full flavored diner food, read plentiful butter/oil/salt, which is equally atmospheric as Ramova though in a more rough and tumble urban fashion.

Well, I have to say Ramova's is quite the find. Exactly how I like my diner fare. After looking at Nana's breakfast menu I think perhaps I should have been eating breakfast there, and lunch somewhere else. If only the choice had been mine. Thanks for the suggestions. I love this forum.

Also, I must add that I prefer Scott's to Kevin's hamburger heaven, but my single experience at Kevin's was too traumatic for me to be unbiased ;)

Not sure Ramova can count as a "find" -- it's old as dirt and on the main drag in a neighborhood where old means something. I've loved Ramova's chilli since before I knew what Ramova was. The dearly departed Old Chicago cigar shop used to offer gratis chilli from a crock pot (plus beer, booze and giant Conte di Savoia subs) in the '90's. I later learned it was from Ramova.

Not having read this thread I had lunch at Ramova yesterday with my three year old. Wow. $1.80 for a decent cheeseburger, a waitress who had a hard face but a warm heart and a cook in the window who looks like a morphing of Anthony Bourdain and Lou Reed? On that alone we will be back but also want to try the chili that everyone else was having and the hash browns that look just like hash browns should.

btw Afterwards we headed over to Stearns Quarry Park (after hitting the Monster Island Godzilla shop and Let's Boogie record shop) and enjoyed it very much.
