"It takes a sophisticated diner to be familiar with the artichoke," says Carvajal's lawyer, Marc R. Ginsberg.

Well, if I ever need a Family Practice doctor in Hollywood, I have a pretty good idea of who I would definitely not trust any of my family members' healthcare needs with.

Weird story. Why did the artichokes get lodged in his bowel? Did he not chew? Maybe restaurants should put a disclaimer on the menu saying if you are eating inedible portions of a vegetable, make sure to chew them. Now supposing someone has never eaten a bone-in steak before and the eat the bone...

I can not imagine this was a tasty or fun experience at table, let alone later. Wouldn't you at some point stop and say "wow this is inedible stringy pointy crap"?

did he also sue them when he ate the bone in his steak?

ETA: oops. heh. just read the entire article and saw they drew the same parallel.

I mentioned this to work colleagues who said they see people eating the outside pod of edamame all the time. I think they are too chewy, but some people seem to like the fiber.

I like the shrimp shells only when deep fried and crunchy-like in salt and pepper shrimp...
    otherwise they get discarded. LOL

C-Mannys, the sit-down family dinner Mexican restaurant, which is now on Irving Park road near Elston used to be up Elston in what looked like an old Pizza Hut restaurant. They had a big sign you could see from every table that let you know certain dishes had meat with bones in it. Was always kinda weird and funny all rolled into one. Was told it was because some guy ordered Pollo en Mole and choked really bad on a bone. The weird part is if there isn't whole bones in my mole I'm underwhelmed. I frown on all chicken breast meat in mole.

Based on this, which is the only info I could find about the lawsuit on the internet, Mr. Carvajal appears to have lost his case and his appeal. If only the court had written an opinion, we would have more information about what happened. I think we can surmise, though.

Based on Teresa's lead, I found this complaint: http://www.courthousenews.com/2010/10/28/Artichoke.pdf
