Company and food were both great (company always is), but I was especially impressed by the service. As we were going over the menu and trying to figure out the order, our server (forgot his name, but he's the son of Abdul, the owner) suggested we get a selection of almost everything on the menu, for a set price of $16-$17 each. That worked out very well. We tipped generously.
I thought everything served was excellent - highlights being all the appetizers, the kebabs, and the yogurt-based drink, dough (a salad in a glass). And our server described the chutney as "just a bunch of green vegetables my Dad found at the market, and mixed 'em up." He was being modest. It had a deep flavor, slightly chunky, with a bit of heat that built slowly.
I'll go back soon - probably while they're still BYOB. (Apparently, they're considering getting a liquor license - their previous Skokie location was always BYOB.)
Watch for the announcement of the next Evanston Lunch Group™ meeting in mid-January, probably in mid-January at Bluette, Wilmette's new restaurant from the folks at Sweets & Savories.
