I rarely buy canned tuna because only canned tuna is "flakey, semi firm, white meat." Tuna to me is the other red meat when it's not boiled in salt water, and thrown into the fray of machine sealed shelf stable meats. I do like canned tuna, but I like fresh tuna more. So all that aside, here's my thought: read the can you are buying. IIRC, the tuna canners label their products. Just from memory, there is:
"Solid White" (which I would assume you are looking for, and I hope you didn't get because that would mean it's all messed up)
"Chunk Light" which has some off colored, and some white.
Anything not labeled either of those two above will be cat food mush.
