Stopped by Wolfy's last week for a tasty, late lunch on NYE . . .
Wolfy's - 873 Sanders Rd, Northbrook, IL
Charred Salami on French Bread with mustard and grilled onionNice rendition, well-grilled and delicious with a nice 'toasting' on the french bread.
Hotdog with relish and mustardVienna, natural-casing dog with a great snap.
Cheeseburger with ketchup, mustard, pickle and grilled onionLove the free-formed patties. Charred, juicy and definitely not overcooked; slightly pink on the inside.
Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and mayoThe wife's order, also cooked nicely.
Chicken Breast on Pita - lettuce, grilled onion, mayo and hot gardinieraThe chicken breast -- from Harrison's Poultry Farm in Glenview -- is cut into large shards after it's grilled. This had a really clear, chickeny flavor, which was a real eye-opener. It was also cooked really well -- plenty moist, well-seasoned and nicely charred.
French FriesDecent but as others have posted, more or less the weak link at Wolfy's.
Everything was prepared really well. Ingredients -- from buns to lettuce -- were fresh in a clear and obvious and way. Service was fast, efficient and extremely friendly. The above food, with 3 beverages, was $32, which made it a great value. We live relatively close to Wolfy's and don't get there very often but this lunch was terrific and made me feel like I need to eat there more frequently. It can be tough traffic-wise to get there for dinner on a weeknight but that's no excuse for not patronizing this place more often, even if it means picking our spots. We'll be back soon...maybe on a Saturday to try those fresh cut fries.
