I am wondering where would be a good resource for finding out about cooking demos, other than individual websites.

    Cuisine makes no difference.

Cafe Babareeba and Emilio's Tapas both have demos later this month...both are sold out

    Hi,

Do you mean cooking classes rather than demos?

    Regards,

I had not really given thought to a class with hands on involvement. The demo offered by Babareeba/Emilio's is the chef showing how to prepare. That would be good enough for me. With my schedule a one time offering rather than a committment to 4-6 would be best for me.

I do believe I read sometime back that the chopping block in Lincoln Square offered classes.

I would like to learn, paella, tapas and sushi.

    THX!

Chopping Block has a regular schedule of classes. It's not especially intensive but you eat your results so it's a nice way to spend an evening. The Fish Guy offers sushi class once a month:

Le Madia hosts them every month or so:

    Sat., Feb. 19th at 11 a.m.
    30-, including lunch and wine

    There's a video of one here: http://www.dinelamadia.com

And I think Mercat a la Planxa does some - go to the events page: http://www.mercatchicago.com/
They do a monthly shop with the chef which includes a demo and lunch.

Get on Green City Market's email list. They always have demos, and they're free.

World Kitchen has a continuous series of cooking classes at favorable cost, usually $30 each or $100 for four classes. This is a program supported by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. Judith Dunbar Hines does a great job getting culinary authors passing through town to teach classes. If I worked downtown, I would be a regular.

Heaven on Seven does a cooking class on Friday nights once a month that results in a five course dinner.
