I will be in Palm Beach area next week and am looking for things reasonably close. I will have a car and am willing to drive a few miles although I have already used the board for suggestions in Miami. Hopefully there is something decent closer than that!

Many trips to PBG to visit parents. All trips include a stop at Captain Charlies Reef Grill. Unasuming seafood place in a dingy strip mall in Juno Beach. Go for the T-Wa shrimp app Sticky Salty Sweet Soy infused. Best ever. Any of the snapper preps win amuse you. The offbeat preparations draw me, but the straight up never dissapoint. Spotos oyster bar is a little moe upscale with great fish and meats. If your in the mood to bring something home or cook at home, Carmines Market has great meats fish bakery and italian deli. The prices are out of line, but your on vacation.

Joes Stone Crab in Miami Beach is always worth the drive. Get the biggest ones they have with hash browns and some key lime pie.

Reef Grill aka Captain Charlie's is a must. Enormous menu and special list that shouldn't be as good as it is. Very ingredient driven, much of the fish is day boat pristine. The owner, Ross was a friend of my father and mentored me when I arrived there from LA in 93. Helped find me my first job in S. Fla etc, etc... A class act and the definitive restauranteur. Expect to wait an hr or more in season @ their other restaurant "3 doors down" which it is, 3 doors down. Reasonable wine pricing as well.

Go to items are tempura grouper cheeks, baked oyster gratin, the previously mentioned t wa shrimp, the "tortizza" (named as such because the landlord had a deal w/another restaurant in the strip mall giving them the exclusive rights to pizza, Ross opted for using a crisped flour tortilla instead) or any of the fish of the day. Can't go wrong w/hog snapper or pompano w/a slice of peanut butter pie for dessert.

One of my favorite places in a land of mediocre food passing for acceptable.

I'm not sure what kind of restaurant or price range you are looking for. Michelle Bernstein has a pricey restaurant at the the Omphoy Ocean Resort in Palm Beach. Sorry I don't have anything more downscale for you.

Thanks for the suggestions. As I was kept in the gated community for the better part of my trip I didnt get out much, but I did have a wonderful Colombian meal at El Sabor Latino, located in a tiny strip mall at the corner of Northlake and Military. I ordered the bandeja paisa, a huge dish of pinto beans, rice, plantains two ways, pork belly, steak, and a terrific Colombian sausage, fried egg on top. Nice place I look forward to returning to next visit.
