In my search for some breakfast eats, I came across Ritter's Breakfast delivery service http://www.123breakfast.com

Has anyone tried it? Sounds like a cool concept.... Thoughts anyone?

My girlfriend and I have had Ritters a number of times, but it's been a while. I don't remember too many details but we tried a lot of different things from the menu: quiches, french toasts, stuffed croissants, and regular & chocolate croissants.

Everything was pretty tasty and delivered warm (and fairly quickly, though we were located close to their base of operation). It's definitely nice to stumble out of bed on a weekend, call Ritters, lounge around in your pajamas, and have a hot breakfast in 20-30 minutes. Portion size was pretty good, I think we always had a bit leftover. I was always somehwat surprised at the total cost (after delivery charge and driver tip), as it was similar to the cost of going out for a breakfast meal.

So two Saturdays ago, Mr. Delk had to go to the office to prep a class he's teaching this fall. I was feeling a bit lazy, and I remembered reading this post, so I figured I'd give it a try...

I ordered a ham and cheese croissant, a chocolate croissant, a cup of coffee (because of health reasons, I gave up coffee a couple of years ago, but have an occasional cup every once in a while) and a New York Times.

The meal arrived about 30 minutes later and was pretty good. The ham and cheese croissant was the best of the lot.

The amazingly nice touch arrived in the mail today:

Yeah I remember getting one of those cards and thinking the same thing. They definitely get high marks for customer service and just overall friendliness.

We ordered Ritters over the weekend, Strawberry Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast & plain croissant for me, Ham & Cheese Stuffed Croissant & Spinach & Feta Stuffed Croissant for her (one for now, one for later). Was told it would be about an hour. 15 minutes later, they called back (which I missed since my phone was on silent) to tell me that they were out of Ham & Cheese croissants as well as regular ones, so they were subbing a second spinach & feta and an almond, and to call back if that was a problem. It wasn't, but I did have to call back around 70 minutes after my initial call because the food hadn't arrived yet. The employee said the driver was on his way, and would be there shortly, but offered to call the driver and then call me back. I said that he need not do that, I just wanted to make sure it was at least on it's way, thought perhaps I misinterpreted the voicemail and they were waiting to hear back from me before sending the food. As soon as I hung up, the food arrived.

The Strawberry Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast was really tasty. I'd definitely order it again. The girlfriend was dissapointed in not getting the Ham & Cheese, but she enjoyed the Spinach & Feta anyway. I'm generally egg-averse, which limits my enjoyment of breakfast foods, but one of these days I'll have to try some of the other menu items.

Looks like they'll soon be opening up a second location across from the Best Buy on Clark. Guessing that my apt will be within delivery range of this one...yay!

One last thing...why is this in Non-Food?

Darn, they don't deliver to Historic Lakeview (well, the part west of Racine, anyway). But as I see from their menu, they don't offer uova 'mpriatorio, either, so I still have to make breakfast at home.

I run Ritter's Breakfast Delivery- and it is great to see this feedback! We can now deliver all the way west to Ashland and north to Irving Park from the second location- I hope that helps. We're always looking for new ideas too- and it looks like those who post here really know their stuff. More feedback would be great! Thanks, Kevin Ritter :D

Dear hubby and I finally tried out the 123 Ritter's Breakfast minus the delivery. We live a couple blocks from the Clark Street location, so we decided to dine in. Upon arrival, it was bustling with activity. I ordered the special, chocolate raspberry french toast, and hubby got the breakfast burrito.

There is only inside seating, and it was quite steamy in there. With the coffee, which was good, I felt like a got an exfoliation. And yes, the coffee exfoliation was free, as the coffee was on the house, due to a bit of a wait. I would have much preferred to sit outside, where it was cooler, but there is no outside seating.

After observing the hustling and bustling of the business for a while, we got our food. Both items were good.

I think this business concept is a great one for the market. Just something that some people would use more frequently than me. Hubby and I are very capable when it comes to making breakfast, so if we wanted to eat at home, we'd probably just making something at least as good ourselves. If we had company and we all wanted to laze around and eat different things, this would fit the bill. As far as dining in at the Clark Street location, I think you'd get faster service if you dined at a regular restaurant, plus the dining room would be be a bit more comfortable.

We would get breakfast delivered from here when we first had our baby- tried it this weekend and got disconnected ph#s.

The website has a big thing at the top saying "domain for sale" but no message about them being out of business, which sucks for the confused people who spend 15 minutes arguing over what to order, then get no-one on the phone.

Too bad it didn't work out, they were fast and good...

According to a couple different websites, Ritter sold the business in May 2007 (nobody says who to or what their plans were).

They are out of business and have been for at least two years.
