No I haven't...I'm usually naughty enough when it comes to Portillo's, so I try to avoid the desserts since I have a feeling the cake is heavily processed. I'm trying to avoid processed sweets, unfortunately, so no form of Ho Hos for me. But a Ho Ho shake would probably be pretty good.

Around Thanksgiving, I did as another LTH'er suggested and blended a piece of pumpkin pie into a malt (or shake?) with vanilla ice cream, and it was heaven. I feel no guilt over that, as the pie was homemade and I forgot the sugar, thus it's really just part of this nutritious breakfast.

Chocolate Cake Shake at Portillo's is too much IMO. Like the chocolate cake, like a shake, but together it's just overkill. I am surprised those words were typed and thought by me, but after having one, it's how I feel.

    My guilty pleasures:

Crab rangoon, used to be the kind from your neighborhood Chinese joint but now I just make my own and toss in a dash of sambal with the "crab" and the cream cheese.

Kettle cooked cheese and cayenne potato chips. The Jewel by me used to stock these but they have stopped lately (probably a good thing for my thighs)

A slice of munster or brick cheese on toasted white bread and feta cheese and bread

Kraft mac and cheese. Has to be Kraft because other brands just do not compare to me

I'm sure I have others but can't think of them right now.

Agreed on French Onion Dip. Can probably eat a tub without realizing. Also will add:

-Pizza puffs and cheese fries (must be radioactive yellow cheese, not merkts), what a combo
-McD's double cheeseburgers, great hangover cure
-Mr. Sub, Original Mr. Sub, mystery meats never worked so well together

Have to add Long John Silvers Shrimp and Fish. I dont know why. But I know I feel horrible for days after it.

I love the original Mr. Sub. That's the only one I get.

I also love the chips-and-dip of which you speak, but if I recall there was a similar dip with bacon. That was the best.

I can't believe I've apparently never posted to this topic before. My diet is about 75% guilty pleasures.

-American cheese. When it comes to grilled cheese, omelettes, hell, just about anything involving melted cheese, I'll take American. The exception here is pizza, which brings me to:
-Provel. Love it. Fortunately, my sister-in-law lives right outside of St. Louis. Unfortunately, I'm the only person in that house who likes the stuff, so when we visit I'm always so close, yet so far away.
-Rice and stuff. I.e., rice with cheese (American, usually) with ketchup, or 1000 Island. Sometimes if I don't want to hate myself as much afterwards I use BBQ sauce and add chicken. But that's pretty rare.
-"Butterball" donuts from Huck Finn. These are close kin to the buttermilk donuts I once loved at Dunkin Donuts. Once those were gone, I never felt the need to darken their door again, aside from periods of coffee desperation. These aren't great donuts, they are too dense, heavy, and dry...yet I crave them all the time.
-Jimmy John's. What, like I can't make myself a turkey sandwich? Apparently not, since I go by my local about three times a week to get one made for me. In my defense, it's really really hard to make food when wrangling a toddler and a newborn, and I end up eating my sandwiches while pushing a stroller one-handed, so there's that.

This brings me to another guilty pleasure I have cheese fries but they have to be from Portillo's. There's something so addictive about the type of cheese they use and the frozen standard fries that go along with it.

Agreed. I ALWAYS get cheese fries at Portillos. The fries and cheese are both so hot, temperature-wise, which makes them so good together. No place else compares, IMHO.

Oh the dirty little secrets of my pregnancy.

    1. I live one block from the green line in Oak Park and would often take it to the Thompson Center in order to eat Taco Bell and Arby's at the same time. First stop Taco Bell for a crunchy taco supreme and a mexican pizza washed down with a mountain dew. On to Arby's for a french dip and potato cake.

2.This may possibly be the most shameful. Lunch consisting of stouffer's swedish meatballs and hot pockets philly cheese steak flavor.

I don't know how I came up with these combos but I was very hungry and I craved crappy processed beef.

Those potato cakes at Arby's are one of my all time guilty pleasures. Never liked any of their sandwiches. However, getting a combo of the potato cakes and the jamoca shake is heaven.

Also, the basic cold cut combo with extra onions and extra shredded iceberg and extra vinegar and oil from none other than Mr. Submarine is my ALL time guilty pleasure. The only Mr. Sub left in the Loop is on Wells. I started getting this sandwich when I had my first job in the 70's when I was in High School. The one at Adams/Wabash(gone now) was my first. Then they shut down the Mr Sub on Jackson between State and Quincy (across from Chicken Planet).

I don't know why I love that sandwich so much. Im addicted.

Tim Tams. The only reason is because I don't have enough self control to not eat an entire pack in one seating. When there are only 4 left, I'll tell myself that I'll be disappointed only having 4 the next time so I eat them all.

I have a similar problem with Jimmy John's. Turkey Tom, onions, extra iceberg, mayo. Now I hate iceberg lettuce and mayo under normal circumstances, so I can't figure out why it has a practically narcotic effect on me. And now look, here's someone else with basically the same problem! How odd.

I get the Mr. Submarine cold cut combo one every few months. It isamazing how a collection of otherwise unattractive ingredients( cheap onions, iceberg, bad mayo) can all come together under that wonderful, killer Turano bread. I amy have talked myself into running over there today, but then the office would smell like onions all afternoon. Which reminds of another guilty pleasure.......the Maxwell street polish sausage...:)

Pizza puffs. Something about a burrito containing low end pizza ingredients and deep fried that gets me every time.

Jewel has them in the deli counter with the fried chicken fire about half of what most dog stands charge, and shopping at lunch time can be dangerous to my health.
