Thw town in Quebec is Hull.
I wish that I could give you some specific recommendations but the two places that I went on my last trip to Ottawa were really very poor.
I would recommend that you stop at one of Canada's largest marlet, the Byward Market, which in my opinion is one of the best farmer's markets in North America. Not only do they have real farmers selling great produce but they have a lot of great food stands that serve a lot specialty foods. There is a pastry and pate place up front thatis phenomenal. I wish that I could be more specific but I spent only an hour there on my last trip (2004).

There is a wide variety of great restaurants in the Byward Market area as well as in the Sparks Street (pedestrian) Mall area downtown near Parliament Hill.
There are several other markets in the region that are worth a visit but Byward would be the only one to go to if time is limited.
One specialty that I saw in Ottawa that is hard to find is sponge taffy. If you can find it, try it as it is excellent. It is a hard candy that looks like a sponge. You break off a piece to eat it.
Sorry for the delay. I have been away from the computer this week.
