In the next week Iliana Regan's new restaurant Elizabeth will open (it is now softly opening with friends and family dinners). Iliana was the force behind One Sister Underground restaurant, which received much positive notice on this board (

(I myself have some photos, but I won't post until its real opening - incite was present last night and he is one of our star photographers, so if he posts, you win). Elizabeth is the first "New Nordic" or, more properly New Gatherers Cuisine restaurant in Chicago, with an emphasis on found or gathered ingredients (crab apples, huckleberries, Queen Anne's lace, wild rice, chanterelle, spruce shoots, black walnut). (Elizabeth is not Noma, but has something of the same inspiration).
I thought that it might be fun to gather a group of LTHers together to share a meal at Elizabeth. They have a table for eight that we can get. I am thinking of their shorter Owl menu - 8-10 courses, priced between 65-95 dollars (not including alcohol, tax, tip) and I am thinking of a Thursday night at 7 pm, tentatively October 18. Is there any interest in such a dinner. If so, I will make arrangements (I don't want to book a table until I know that there will be interest). The table seats eight.
And following our iconic Moto dinner (

If there is interest for a Thursday evening at Elizabeth, post or pm.

Toast, as every breakfaster knows, isn't really about the quality of the bread or how it's sliced or even the toaster. For man cannot live by toast alone. It's all about the butter. -- Adam Gopnik
