I love going to Casino Buffets. I was wondering if anyone had been to the newly opened Canopy Buffet at the new Rivers Casino in Rosemont ??

Underwhelming. (Looked at it on way home from work out of curiosity but didn't eat there.) Seafood selections very limited -- no raw items, no lox, and no crab legs. Nice looking carved prime rib, however. Asian station had fried rice, orange chicken, two sushi selections -- big yawn. Not a great choice of breads, no sugar-free items. A gelato bar looked appetizing. Didn't seem worth the $29. I signed up for the Rewards program, stretched $3 into a half hour of play to get points on the card, and now I'll wait and see if I get a 2-for-1 buffet offer in my email because that's the only way I'll return. (BTW, the Flipt burger place is seriously overpriced.)

My girlfriend wanted to check out Rivers Casino Saturday night, so I reluctantly went along. I knew it was small, I knew it would be wall to wall people, and I knew I personally wouldn't be gambling except on my dinner, which I decided would be at Flipt - the burger place at the casino.

The casino itself was pretty nice as far as local casinos go. I don't like gambling unless I have a bankroll to play with at the tables, and I hate slot machines/video poker. So she went to try and find an open machine and I went to eat. My total tab for a burger and fries (no drink, I had water) was $12.00. Overpriced? I don't think so. Everyone is doing that now, so get used to it. Of course I'm kidding, yeah it's overpriced! You place your order at the register, they give you a number and bring it to you. Despite being very short staffed, they kept the tables cleared and clean.

The burger was cooked medium well (as I expected, I should have asked for medium or medium rare, but like I said, I was gambling!). It was served on a potato bread bun, which was pretty good. The burger reminded me a bit of Johnny Rockets (for better or worse) but it wasn't bad. The fries were very thin, fresh cut and I liked them, though my order was just warm, not hot and crisp. Overall it was decent, but nothing special. Had Paradise Pup down the street been open, I wouldn't have set foot in Flipt.

Tried the buffet Friday. Better than something like Old Country Buffet, but not worth $26. Italian station, Asian station, comfort food station, seafood station, salads, carvery and desserts. Didn't see any Mexican. Nothing like Vegas buffets. They have a crab deal for a higher price.

I went to Flipt burger a few weeks ago and they had a burger special for ~$4 that day (fries and a drink were add ons, tho). So, maybe check out the special boards first?

I was there recently while they were offering the "pay $26 now and come back again for free before the end of September" deal. Everyone in our group thought the food was pretty good (maybe not great, but it's a casino buffet). I felt it was worth it for the BOGO deal. I thought the prime rib and grilled veggies were tasty.

I also got the deal where you can pay the 26 now and then come back anytime in the next month. I took advantage of the deal and got two meals out of one. I think it is a pretty good buffet by my standards, although not quite as good as some of the buffets at the Luxury Vegas Hotels. As usual, buffet food is always good, but never GREAT due to the fact that they have to make bulk orders of food, so it is never exceptional. However, the reason you go to a buffet is to stuff your face, and that is exactly what I did. The buffet is great if you keep it in perspective. Hope you enjoyed it.
