Due to interest I've expanded the dinner to accommodate 16 guests, two 8 tops should fit us and our seafood piles quite comfortably.

    Alright gang,
Get excited. I ordered ahead, each of our two tables will be graced with:
    Ginger/scallion Lobster
    Salt & Pepper Dungeness Crab
Shell on Shrimp in Salted Egg Yolk
Manila Clams in XO Sauce X2
    Cantonese Crispy Chicken
    "Braised" Pigeon
Eggplant in Spicy Sauce with Pork Belly
And sadly, they are not currently serving the cabbage rolls and on choy is not is season, so I settled for Baby Bok Choy with Garlic for some roughage.
We can order h&s soup and monster steamed oysters (or anything else we fancy) individually.

    And remember its BYOB.
    Stoked!

Excellent menu! Thanks for prepping. I'm especially anxious to engage the clams-pigeon-eggplant-pork belly sequence.

Thanks to Jefe for organizing the group dinner. This is what LTH is all about: a bunch of folks from diverse corners of Chicago coming together to have a good time. To me, the stars of the evening were the egg yolk shrimp and the dungeness crab, closely followed by the clams, and well everything else all spot on. The Millionaire-Style Fried Rice was a novel item: sort of what happens when egg foo yong and fried rice have a baby and let it watch Asian horror movies (in a good way). I hope somebody got a photo of those mammoth oysters.

A very fine meal it was (and a great evening, as well). Thanks, Jefe, for putting it together. It's busy day for me (so I can't document the entire meal right now) but I did want to post pictures of a couple of the dishes you mentioned in your post . . .

I'll add to the chorus of thank you's to Jefe, his pre-ordering the highlights was brilliant and the addition of the oysters, millionaire fried rice and hot and sour soup gave a real sense of what this place can do. I've been paying too much attention to Tony Hu's restaurants and haven't been trying enough other places, it made me remember there's much to explore in Chinatown.

The highlights for me were the shellfish, really well prepared with a deft touch that assured nothing was overcooked. The squab suffered a different fate, it was sadly overdone, but even then I could taste the flavor and plan to try it again. Sometimes I find really large oysters to be tough, but these had a lovely creamy taste complimented by the ginger and scallions. The millionaire fried rice was amazing, I was going to skip this dish to conserve stomach space, but when everyone around me was raving about it I had to try it. It had a wonderful creamy taste with a seafood funk from a generous helping of dried shrimp on top.

As JoelF so eloquently already put it the true highlight was enjoying the meal with like minded LTHers. The conversation and beverages both flowed, what a lovely evening.
