Just relocated to Palos Heights and have been exploring the area. The Harvest Room recently opened at the corner of 127th and Harlem in what was formerly a somewhat generic pancake house. I have had breakfast and dinner there in the past week and look forward to exploring more of the menu. They are still working out some of the kinks with their service, but the staff is friendly and pleasant. It looks like all of their meat is locally sourced grass fed. I expect you may still see a Sysco truck there from time to time but this is definitely a keeper in my book. I have had an omelette with sweet potato hash and will go back for that. I had a burger the other night and I am very happy to have a place where I can get a burger made with grass fed beef cooked to my preference (Med Rare). Prices are reasonable and the quality is very good. Well worth checking out, especially if you are looking for locally sourced grass fed meats in your diet.

Glad to hear you had a good experience. My wife and I just moved back down here this past fall and were excited to hear about this place moving in. We can't wait to try it out... I just hope Palos Heights is ready for it!

Finally was able to try the Harvest Room this evening. I was very excited to get there as it fills a huge hole for dining in the south burbs, a farm to table type restaurant.

It has been open about 3 months now, and I would still consider it a work in progress. The Harvest room has a lot of potential, but has a lot of work to get there. The service showed some real flashes such as offering toys to kids shortly after entering, and when a couple started craning their necks looking for their server, the bartender made a bee line over to them asking if he cold get them anything. Unfortunately, the server didn't know all that much about the different items and their preparation, which since they cater also to vegan and gluten free audiences, could be problematic.

As to the food, the prices are exceptionally reasonable for what they offer, $14-21 for most entrees, which are mostly from local area farms, with fair size portions. I had the Steak medallions au poivre, which had a lovely cognac peppercorn sauce with great quality mushrooms. However, the beef was rather tough. My wife had had the lamb burger which was very juicy and well prepared. We ordered the gluten free burger from my son, though what wasn't explained to us was that instead of it coming with a gluten free roll, they just provided the burger on the plate without any bun. Salads were fresh, the soup of the day was a pot roast soup, which was a glorified vegetable beef soup.

I definitely will go back again and try other items, here's hoping that they make the necessary improvements.

Not to nitpick, and I appreciate your review (especially since I haven't made it out there yet) but they opened around January 25th... so it hasn't even been two months yet.

TCK, thank you for the correction, I knew they opened shortly after the new year, but wasn't sure about the date.

I really want them to succeed, and they have potential, hopefully in a few more months they will have ironed out all of the kinks. On the plus side, for a Sunday evening, the place was really packed. It would be nice to see them get straightened out before they get too many of those Yelp reviews that make your eyes bleed.
