Libertarian magazine Reason has named New York mayor Michael Bloomberg the Nanny of the Year for his war on New York's real problems: cupcakes and soda pop.

Thanks. I needed another reason to be glad I don't live in New York.

We can just hope a little ridicule will prevent this from spreading.

Bloomberg Refused Second Slice of Pizza at Local Restaurant - May. 02, 2013

"OK, that's funny," he remarked, "because of the soda thing ... No come on. I'm not kidding. I haven't eaten all morning, just send over another pepperoni."

"I'm sorry sir. We're serious," Benito insisted. "We've decided that eating more than one piece isn't healthy for you, and so we're forbidding you from doing it."

"Look jackass," Bloomberg retorted, his anger boiling, "I fucking skipped breakfast this morning just so I could eat four slices of your pizza. Don't be a schmuck, just get back to the kitchen and bring out some fucking pizza, okay."

"I'm sorry sir, there's nothing I can do," the owner repeated. "Maybe you could go to several restaurants and get one slice at each. At least that way you're walking. You know, burning calories."

I have no idea if this is real or a satire, though I do enjoy the idea of Bloomberg being denied his pizza. I like to think it's a little taste of his own medicine

The Daily Currant is a satirical website much like the Onion

Don't feel too bad that you fell for it though because the Drudge Report picked it up as legit news...

    Hi,

I did add a cautionary phrase wondering if this was real or not. What made me cautious was how little this news was broadcast. When it is a single source and something worthy of comment, you wonder if it is true. Yet, I would have thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle had it been true. Oh to be the fly on the wall!

I've fallen for Daily Currant stuff...but usually around one paragraph in, it becomes so preposterous that I have to check the source and realize, oh yeah, they got me again.
