As much as I hate to support Hooters, when I moved my (East Coast) father to the Midwest, only Hooters locally had steamed clams. He got cranky until he got steamed clams. Fortunately, Trader Joes opened up within almost walking distance and had a steamed clams dinner.
Yes, not "real" for someone who used to clam on the cape, but TJ's kept him happy. Better than my wife taking him to Hooters, and far cheaper than a local awesome place that opened after he moved here where he spent $125 at on clams when he found a place he liked. $25 a serving. Great quality and good folks, just excessive IMHO.
A funny from many years ago. My mother and I were walking Revere beach when (4) five gallon drums of clams were dropped off by a food shack. We both gasped and the owner came out with a knife ( and a grin, knowing it was a joke) threatened us. We were his first and 24th customers.
