Kind of sad. The little goby died guarding its eggs.

    RIP.

Who would order oysters at a Hooter?

Was it served with a mignonette or anything?

Per the thread on reddit this was part of Hooters' Oyster Roast dish, and it's served cooked.

If this really happened it's pretty amazing that this could make it past the kitchen staff and server and end up on someone's plate - you'd think someone who works in the place had actually seen an oyster at some point in their life.

That said - does anyone know how Gobi and Gobi eggs taste? They may taste better than roasted oyster at Hooters.

Since presumably no restaurant is dumb enough to let a customer shuck his own oyster, I'm actually pretty shocked that this didn't get caught in the kitchen. I mean, even for Hooters, how does that not get caught and discarded before coming anywhere near the customer?

As much as I hate to support Hooters, when I moved my (East Coast) father to the Midwest, only Hooters locally had steamed clams. He got cranky until he got steamed clams. Fortunately, Trader Joes opened up within almost walking distance and had a steamed clams dinner.

Yes, not "real" for someone who used to clam on the cape, but TJ's kept him happy. Better than my wife taking him to Hooters, and far cheaper than a local awesome place that opened after he moved here where he spent $125 at on clams when he found a place he liked. $25 a serving. Great quality and good folks, just excessive IMHO.

A funny from many years ago. My mother and I were walking Revere beach when (4) five gallon drums of clams were dropped off by a food shack. We both gasped and the owner came out with a knife ( and a grin, knowing it was a joke) threatened us. We were his first and 24th customers.

The Wikipedia page for oyster crabs (a rare delicacy) has links to 2 terrific articles form the Times.

The newer one is particularly excellent, conjuring Old New York at its most pompous.

See if you can find every use of the term "dainty" in these items.
