I saw some baby back ribs advertised at Jewel "buy one get two free." I assumed this means buy 1 slab, get two free. Has anyone ever taken advantage of a sale of this kind at Jewel. If so, what was the quality of the product like ??

    Happy grilling !!!

I'm sure their pork is the same industrial product you'd find at most large supermarkets, Peoria Packing, etc., i.e. nothing great. I bought some baby back ribs on sale at Dominck's a few years ago, in a pinch, because they were cheap, I needed a lot, and quickly. They weren't terrible. More bland than anything. Entirely serviceable if you need a lot.

I wouldn't buy them unless I was certain that thy were not "enhanced" pork, meaning that they are injected with a salt water solution. That not only wreaks havoc on the ribs' texture, but also means that you are paying pork prices for water. Although the ribs at Peoria Packing might be factory farmed ribs, they are not injected.

Are there any grocery store chains which have good baby back ribs, or do you need to go to a local butcher?

Mariano's, Fresh Farms, Whole Foods and probably the majority of the smaller mini chains (Tony's, Garden Fresh, etc.) have unenhanced pork. Ask first to be sure, but for sure the first three I mentioned are fine, if you're looking to buy your ribs in a supermarket.

Beware the price per lb. Jewel is pretty good at doing the ol':
    Week one item cost: 1.99
Week two item cost: 3.99, buy one get one free!

Hi- I was in Whole Foods today, and they have pork baby back ribs on sale through Tuesday for $6.99 a pound. They are previously frozen, if that makes a difference. Hope this helps, Nancy

Aren't "enhanced" products required to have an ingredients list on the label? I believe they are, so it'll be easy enough to discern. If they're already unpacked (no label), ask the butcher or someone else at the store where you shop.

The chicken at Sam's club loudly proclaims "All Natural" on the label. If you look closely the small print indicates it is injected with, apparently, natural saline/broth mix up to 12% IIRC.

LOOK AT THE PRICE! They were $7.99/ lb. That is NOT much of a deal.

That is some sad and pathetic sh*t. To quote the signature line of LTH Charter Member Bruce, "Raw meat should NOT have an ingredients list!!"
